“…only 20% of California homes will have pools. From those that do though, their pool pump can make up 80% of their energy bill during the summer”.
- Antonia Tsobanoudis, Program Engineer, Davis Energy Group
Too many California pools are energy inefficient. If your pool pump is older than 2005 there may be lot of room for “cost effective” energy savings. And if it’s older than that, you could be needlessly donating a lot of money to PGE in the summer months.
Often pool pumps run longer than they have to. Pool maintenance technicians do not necessarily know the optimal time to run a pump and some intentionally run the pumps longer to avoid cleaning them later. There is a device called a “tight watt” and it adjusts pool pump run times according to hours of sun over the year. The device, along with a new variable speed pump, typically will have stellar returns on investment and further insulate you and your family from future energy rate increases.
There are rebates available from PGE to update your pool pump.
We do not perform pool audits.
